Environmental
Local Savings Network wants to help facilitate
a change in the coupon industry while providing a profound impact on
people's lives and the environment.
- The New York Times reports that, "An estimated 99 percent of the
roughly 300 billion paper coupons distributed annually in the United
States end up in the trash, unused and unredeemed." (August 29,
2006).
- Although our initial Eco-Coupon distribution will be in the tri-state
region of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, our company is preparing
for a nationwide distribution within five years. If, by our fifth
year, we can eliminate just 1.5 billion coupons, circulated, research
shows we could save:
- 375,000 Trees
- 8.4 Million Gallons of Oil
- 67,500 Cubic Yards of Landfill Space
- 89.2 Million Kilowatts of Energy
- 156 Million Gallons of Water
